gabrieli: how low will he go?

As an alternate delegate to the upcoming democratic convention I have been deluged with mail and calls from candidates asking for my support. The worst, most slimy icky piece of mail came yesterday from the Gabrieli campaign.

The Gabrieli letter was disguised as a letter from a group of elected officials. They even made it look like they had their own stationary, but if you looked closely you could see gabrielli.org in small print. The fake stationary "A Message from Democratic Officials," even included some sort of code of arms looking graphic, and customized envelopes to further conceal the fact that this mailing was from the Gabrieli campaign.

The letter explained that all of the elected officials listed below (supposedly some of them support Deval & Reilly) supported the idea of having three candidates in the race, and that the democratic thing was to allow everyone to have a chance to run for governor.

What they were really saying was we know you support someone else, but we want you to compromise and vote for Gabrieli at the convention because he chose to enter the race late, and he needs the votes. My answer to that is HELL NO. In fact I will be actively campaigning against Gabrielli now because of that ridiculous fraud of a letter. I would be surprised if his tactic tricked any of the delegates into supporting him.

I am surprised to see Jarrett Barrios's name on this letter, and I wonder if these "special elected officials" knew they were going to be included in a mailing like this.

Was there anything actually dishonest in this letter or factually untrue in the letter? Care to post the text of the letter?

I don't think that you successfully make your point. Neither of the other candidates is very attractive. Patrick may be saying some of the things that some of us want to hear, but his connections with a big mortgage company are questionable. How come a person with big mortgages on two six-million-dollar houses is running for governor? What is the governor's salary? $150,000 a year or something like that? The whole scenario screams of likely corruption, past and probably future.

The questions you raise, anonymous, about Patrick are important questions to me as well.

This post is only about the letter which was so blatent in its intent to trick people, and say things without actually saying them.

I'm telling you this letter was outrageous! LOL

Let me try to get the text of the letter up online for everyone as soon as I can.

I got the same letter. It's just more of the same from Gabrieli. Consuse and mislead. Why would we want someone like that for governor?

I have been so busy with helping to plan the LG Forum for Sunday, that I haven't had time to properly blog this. I plan to scan the letter so everyone can see how slimey this latest attempt by Gabrieli to poach delegates is.

"Anonymous" - Do you have any facts to back up that manure you're spreading?

The letter reminds me a lot of the letters I get from college loan consolidation companies that make the letter look like its from the government but really it isn't if you look at the fine print.

I just called the gabrieli campaign to let them know that I did not appreciate the tactic of faking stationary from elected officials. My exact words were "hi, i'm actually calling to lodge a complaint. I would like to do so as respectuflly as possible and I appreciate you listening. I am upset about the peice of mail I just received in which the gabrieli campaign fakes stationary from a group of officials. Its misleading."

Response: Thank you goodnight. Click.

Susan M...you sound scared and hysterical. We ALL know that you are infatuated with Devil Patrick, but you sound like a hysterical female. Relax.

Wow, anonymous...you had me paying attention to you until you called someone a "hysterical female." If you have to stoop to sexist stereotype to make your point, I wonder if it's much of a point at all.

We're still waiting to see this letter posted online. Well? Care to post it and show us exactly what was so misleading?

The letter will be posted this week. I will have access to a scanner soon. It needs to be scanned to really see the full affect.
