fuck you sexist peta!!!!!!!!!! glad to hear that "hot chicks" are an american tradition. What the hell is going on here? As important as animal rights are is the intention that we are then going to objectify women and celebrate "hot chicks". As a sex positive pro feminist porn I am not seeing this as helpint ANY movement. If we're talking about connecting struggles here what is the helpful point of having this posted without any critique???

Jason my initial reaction was the same as yours, and I absolutely agree with you that the video is sexist. I should not have posted without my own critique or at least a call for people to discuss the video.

Though I am glad PETA gets the struggle of animals publicized...and there are times when I really like the "shocking" tactics of PETA, there are other times when it becomes obvious they really don't get social justice work.

What do others think of the video, PETAs tactics and campaigns, etc.?b

For the most part, I agree with everyone regarding the video’s sexism, but I still liked it. If you take out the white men clapping (why they added that, I don't know) I think it’s sex positive. There is something very liberating for a woman to be able to take her clothes off on her own terms for her own reasons regardless of the reaction. Perhaps, it's not one of Peta's most effective campaigns, but they are not given nearly enough credit for how much impact their activism has, not only on their constituency, but on the public as a whole. They raise awareness on a LOT of important issues, and not every campaign is going to be stellar, but, this video still resonated positively with me.

i know that some people veiw this as the objectification of women, but i have to agree that being publicly nude on your own terms and your own reasons can be very liberating. the young lady in question is a good friend of mine, and i am a woman as well. i am very proud of her and the fact that she was brave enough to bare it all for a cause that is just. not only does this show people that as animal rights activists, we feel strong enough about the cause that we are willing to do what it takes to bring attention, but thatfeminism means being able to do with your body what you see fit, not being ashamed of what others think and doinging because you want to. after all, it is male society that veiws a womans naked body as "dirty" and should be covered up, not women!
