When the establishment starts getting tougher, you know you're making an impact. In true deep South fashion, a Mississippi judge took the unusual step of mandating jail time (10 days) and community service for some Soulforce protesters after they were arrested at Mississippi College.
All Soulforce wanted to do was dialogue with students about homosexuality, but the administration of Mississippi College was disturbed by the prospect of critical thought coming to their campus and promptly had them arrested.
With the Soulforce arrests and Larry Kramer of ACT UP calling for civil disobedience (as well as arrests at a recent ACT UP protest), I am sensing that a large number of people are sick and tired of being "nice" and ready to start confronting homophobia head on again.
Now if only we could get like minded people organized...
