Brockton - A first grader was suspended for sexual harassment because he put two fingers in the waistband of a female classmate. The mother of the six year old boy said her son doesn't even know what sexual harassment is.
What is going on here? This is political correctness gone amock! Some so-called liberals need to stop being knee-jerk reactionary political correctness freaks. The teacher should have said honey, that is not appropriate touching and continued with class. And if the mother of the girl threatened to sue, the teacher should have said bring it on they are 6 years old!
This story brings up another pet peeve of mine. Both conservatives and progressives alike need to realize that children are sexual. Yeah, I said it. Children are sexual. I know it's hard for people to read or accept, but we are sexual beings from the moment we are born. And if children and teens are so closely monitored and sheltered that they are never able to explore their sexuality, they will surely end up repressed and troubled adults....One more reason why we need to provide accurate science based sexuality education to young people, so that when they are exploring their sexuality they make informed decisions.

my first caucus experience
I am happy to report that everyone at my caucus in the South End of Boston (ward 4) was a strong supporter of Deval Patrick.
Unfortunately I did not win as a delegate, but I did win as an alternate. I guess it's a good start considering I was a newbie.
One thing I found frustrating was that I am expected to pay a fee, drive to worcester, and stay in a hotel. Now if our party is going to be welcoming and open to diversity and working class people, why not have a one day convention in a more accessible location? (amendment: the party does offer a fee waiver application and there is a train to worcester...)
Most of the people at the caucus knew each other, and the caucussing is a little bit confusing. But I think with a little young energy we could really get the word out and bring more folks into the process. Most of the people my age do not even know what a caucus is, and that is something our party should work on.
Go DEVAL!!

new bedford not about gay marriage
Dear friends,
Unfortunately the leaders of some gay organizations have not spoken to the valid feelings of shock, horror, sadness, and fear we have in light of the devastating news from New Bedford.
I am deeply disturbed that many of the gay activists of our community are using the linguistic framing of the fight for gay marriage to respond to this bloody crime.
There is absolutely no proof or reason to believe that this crime is at all related to gay marriage. Hate crimes have been happening well before the fight for gay marriage, and they will continue to increase unless our community re-evaluates our longterm goals.
Furthermore, this is just one more example of how the queer community needs to realize that having gay marriage does not mean we are free from violence, nor truly equal.
Using gay marriage as a way to respond to this horrific crime marginalizes, once again, the many people of our community, who did not decide and who do not feel, gay marriage is the most important fight for us.
It is a sad day when the gay community is so obsessed with assimilating into the historically discriminatory and repressive, shame-filled cultural norms and institutions of straight society that we use the rhetoric of that twisted obsession to respond to a horrific hate crime.
I urge you to broaden your rhetoric, in the style of the National Gay & Lesbian Task Force, to include messages about violence against women and trans folks, the fueling of violence by the radical right wing, and the alarming suicide rates amongst queer youth.

A man with a machete and gun went on an anti-gay rampage last night in a popular New Bedford gay club. Three people are injured. We will post details of candle-light vigils and related events.Our hearts go out to the victims of this horrible and terrifying event. We hope and pray for their recovery.

On Saturday Feb. 4 I will attend my first caucus. To be honest I have no idea what to expect, but I am psyched to be apart of electing Deval Patrick. I'm also excited to represent myself as a young queer person involved in the political process. I hope that this Saturday young people surprise party insiders with our enthusiasm and level of involvement. And, of course, I would love it if we kicked Tom Reilly's ass.
There has been a lot of negativity floating around in regards to the state of the Democratic Party right now. People think we are not energized. People think we're divided. Okay so Isaac Mizrahi, the flaming fashion designer and talk show host, is in hot water again! I am going to break down exactly what he did on the red carpet and offer my opinion about the appropriateness of his actions.
Unacceptable:
Isaac groped Scarlett Johanson and Teri Hatcher on the breasts. ATTENTION GAY MEN: YOU DON'T GET TO TOUCH & OBJECTIFY WOMEN'S BREASTS! Just because you are not sexually attracted to a women's breasts, does not mean you can grab them. It is never appropriate to grab someone else's body parts without their permission, especially when it is a male grabbing a female. Sexism still exists in this society folks!
Questionable:
Okay so we all know that Isaac is outrageous. So when he asked Eva Longoria about the way she trims her pube's, I think she could have just responded with humor. I do not see what is so offensive about that one. The questionable part of course comes back to the sexism issue, but I think this one fits into the category of outrageous banter. Personally, I would love to tell Isaac how I trim my pubes.
Whatever! Once again GLAAD proves itself to be a useless organization headed by a... drumroll please... gay Republican.
GLAAD filed a complaint after Isaac called Charlize Theron's character in Monster a "scary dyke with bad teeth." I fail to see how that is homophobic or inaccurate. She definitely was a scary dyke with bad teeth. If GLAAD is trying to say that it is unacceptable for Isaac to say dyke, they are treading in muddy water. The term dyke has transformed amongst the queer community to be an acceptable word when used appropriately and not to offend - by other queer people. Perhaps GLAAD is afraid that mainstream America will see him using that word and in turn think they too can start throwing it around, but come on. Isaac is a big f-a-g, and yes I can say that.

"Giving benefits to illegal immigrants sends the wrong message… Why should taxpayers pay for their decision to come illegally?" Here's a look at an exciting new book I can't wait to read! It seems to cover every topic we here at queertoday.com chit chat about... you know.... racism in the lgbt movement, protesting war, genderfucking, and the like.In this new year I hope that we queers are able to publish more books, perform more, run for more government positions, take to the streets more, and demand a revolution in the gay community - and in this country. I also hope we force ourselves to laugh more and well....we need to legalize pot so that people living with cancer or HIV/AIDS can smoke it with pride... and so we can have those adorable little "coffee" shops like in Amsterdam. We need to abolish the governmental system of marriage all together and provide as many health and well-being benefits as possible to all people who are related through blood or through love.... We need to make real affirmative action a requirement in all hiring situations in this country. We need to guarantee that our government looks and talks like the people it represents. We need to outlaw the brainwashing of our children to conform to a binary gender system. We need to make it socially unacceptable for Simon Cowell to make fun of the effeminate contestants on American Idol. We need to legalize pot. Oh wait I already said that, ston-i mean- silly me. We need to make sure every child has a good education, free from religious bias and full of scientific and self discovery. I'd like to force a mass exodus to the cities where people will work together to build environmentally friendly homes and use environmentally friendly public transportation... yeah! And all the restaurants will turn vegan. I would like to spark an end to the war on iraq and all wars and occupations throughout the world. I want to ask myself what would Gandhi do without sounding cliche'. Finally, I'd like to stop going to Starbucks all together because I'm actually going to Starbucks often while pretending that I rarely go. It's a sick addiction. SICK!

dobson reacts to our protest
Focus On The Family reported on our protest in the January issue of their "Citizen Magazine." They used the photos provided to them by the tapered pant wearing pied piper of hatefulness Amy Contrada (see photo) of Mass Resistance and the Article 8 Alliance.It isn't surprising that Focus waited this long to report on our protest. Like all of the other right-wing organizations they will use this protest over and over and over again - pretending that it happened yesterday and distorting the truth more and more. Article 8 is still talking about the walkout we held at the Cathedral in the South End in the summer of 2003.
The entire report in their Citizen Magazine was off-base particularly the part about racism. We know that the Tremont Baptist Church is a historically anti-racist and progressive church. What we were saying is that it is outrageous that they invited people/organizations to their church who have direct links to the KKK and other racist organizations. The report also said that the police were shaken. Actually the police were visibly cold, tired, and bored.

OKLAHOMA CITY -- An executive committee member of the Southern Baptist Convention was arrested on a lewdness charge for propositioning a plainclothes policeman outside a hotel, police said.
Lonnie Latham, senior pastor at South Tulsa Baptist Church, was booked into Oklahoma County Jail Tuesday night on a misdemeanor charge of offering to engage in an act of lewdness, police Capt. Jeffrey Becker said. Latham was released on $500 bail Wednesday afternoon.

Lonnie Latham, senior pastor at South Tulsa Baptist Church, was booked into Oklahoma County Jail Tuesday night on a misdemeanor charge of offering to engage in an act of lewdness, police Capt. Jeffrey Becker said. Latham was released on $500 bail Wednesday afternoon.

I would like to thank the citizens of Boston for their support during a difficult time in my life. I recently attended a Love Won Out “ex-gay” conference there. My mother wanted me to go, and to show her that I loved her, I did. I told her I wasn’t going to change but would listen to the conservatives’ point of view.
As I walked into the conference, there were gay protesters outside, chanting, “Hate is not a Boston value.” As a 20-year-old gay man, I felt embarrassed and ashamed going into this church while my fellow LGBT people were protesting outside.

On Tuesday, Dec 13, 2005, Stan Tookie Williams, an innocent man convicted by prejudicial prosecutorial misconduct, is scheduled to be executed by the State of California.
I appeal to you to grant clemency to Stan Tookie Williams and to take immediate action to reverse the miscarriage of justice in his case.
Stan Tookie Williams is innocent. No physical evidence tied him to the crimes. Blatantly discriminatory conduct by the prosecutor barred all 3 prospective African Americans from the jury. The same prosecutor has been censured twice by the California State Supreme Court for unconstitutionally striking Black prosective jurors in two other capital cases. Major witnesses against him were themselves criminals who had charges dropped or received lesser sentences in exchange for their testimony, according to the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals.
Stan Tookie Williams has devoted his time while on death row to writing books aimed at ending gang violence and helping youth avoid gang involvement. He has been nominated multiple times for the Nobel Peace and Literature prizes. This summer he received a service award from President Bush for his work with youth.
Stan Tookie Williams execution would be a continuation of the war on African American youth that can be seen in the government's negligent response to Hurricane Katrina, and the overwhelming numbers of African American youth in jail around the country. His conviction was the product of racist discriminatory prosecutorial misconduct. His execution would be a crime against justice, African Americans and African American youth in particular, and all justice-loving people everywhere.
